Ältere und neuere Platten
...für den Sommer.
Im Rahmen der Woche zur Netzkultur widmet sich Melophon heute unseren Freunden vom Netlabel aaahh-Records. Schon seit zwei Jahren stöbern die Köpfe dahinter Bands wie Entertainment for the Braindead, The Wind Whistles oder Uniform Motion auf. Wie genau ein Netlabel funktioniert und vor allem wie die Musik klingt, finden wir heute Abend heraus.
Vor vierzig respektive einundvierzig Jahren hat der gemütlich zwischen Mallorca, Frankreich und England bummelnde Kevin Ayers, nach seinem Ausstieg bei Soft Machine, seine ersten Alben herausgebracht. Sommerliche bis dämmerige Kleinode, im gemütlichen, schmeichelnden Bariton vorgetragen und abwechselnd oder gleichzeitig viktorianisch, prog und Kinderlied. Wir finden das toll und stellen deshalb Songs von Joy of a toy (1969) und Shooting at the moon (1970) vor.
Fionn Regan kommt aus Irland und sieht aus, als wäre er mit Ben Kweller und dem jungen Dylan verschwägert. Und nicht nur optische Parallelen lassen sich erkennen, auch musikalisch wird er von Bob Dylan und Neil Young beeinflusst. Im Februar erschien das Album The Shadow of an Empire. Wir hören rein.
Und zu guterletzt tragen wir noch eine Platte der letzten Sendung nach.
Timber Timbre sind im Vorprogramm der Broken Social Scene in Köln zu Gast gewesen und uns erst viel zu spät zu Ohren gekommen. Ihr selbt betiteltes Album erschien im letzten Sommer auf Arts and Crafts und wird von uns genauer unter die Lupe genommen.
